Bathroom Fire Evacuates Morris County Elementary School

A Morris County elementary school was evacuated as crews responded to a bathroom fire on Monday, May 1, authorities said.

The Morris Township Fire Department responded to the blaze at the Woodland Avenue School on Johnston Drive, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Meghan Knab told Daily Voice.

Initial reports came in for a heavy smoke condition at the school around 11:30 a.m. The MCPO Arson and Environmental Crimes Unit also responded.

The school was evacuated, and the fire has been contained, Knab confirmed.

The fire is under investigation by the Morris Township Fire Department.

No additional details were released. Daily Voice has reached out to district officials for further comment.
